Emulating a Gatsby-esque outfit mixed with a touch of black, junior Jewell Ralston chose a black dress, gloves and four-inch heels for her junior prom. 

“During American [Literature], when we were focusing on ‘The Great Gatsby’ unit, I was like, ‘Okay, I'm feeling this,’” Ralston said. “So I wanted to find a dress that kind of reminded me of that. And boom, it just kind of happened.”

The four-inch heels, on the other hand, were more of an impulsive purchase. Ralston says their low price made them appealing, despite their uncomfortable nature.  

“I got them somewhere in the mall, I kind of forgot [where, but] they were like $19,” Ralston said. “They were cheap. So I bought them, and they look cute.”
