Arshia Rikhi

After deciding on a blue dress for prom, junior Arshia Rikhi thought that she was done with the process of searching for an outfit. However, two weeks before prom, Rikhi found a red dress with sequins at Windsor that she knew was perfect.

Rikhi says the blue dress had a lower cut and she didn’t feel as comfortable wearing it compared to the red dress. Furthermore, she thought that red was more of “her color” at the time, and the sequins in addition to the dark red color would help her “stand out.”

“I feel like [red and blue] have always been [colors] that I've switched between, especially with my nails or the outfits that I wear, and I think it really has to do with the mental state that I'm in,” Rikhi said. “It has to do something with my confidence and how I want to be perceived by other people.”

Ultimately, Rikhi decided to choose the red dress from Windsor, along with an evil-eye necklace and high heels to complete her outfit. She attributes her choice partially to the color and mood, and also because it reminds her of a close friend.

“I feel like the red dress resonates more also because I have this really close senior friend from a different school and her color is red and every time she introduces me to someone, she [says], ‘This is my junior,’” Rikhi said. “It just feels like our thing now. It's cute.”
