Arnav Jadhav
When choosing a blazer, shirt, pants and shoes combination for prom, junior Arnav Jadhav went with a more traditional approach. Though he originally planned to tie the outfit together with a black bow tie, he instead chose to add a burst of color with a red and gold-patterned tie.
“I only have two ties — a black one and a red one,” Jadhav said. “The bow tie is also black, [and] I thought that it wouldn't really go well against the black shirt or black blazer — it would barely be visible. So I just chose the red one because that was the only non-black thing I had [and] it would actually be visible.”
According to Jadhav, the tie originally belonged to his grandfather. His grandfather left the tie in America before leaving for India, and Jadhav says his grandfather would be happy with him wearing the tie.
“He used [the tie] a lot for job interviews and stuff when he was younger,” Jadhav said. “Him knowing that I’m using it would make him feel happy.”
Jadhav voiced his overall excitement for prom, with this being his first time attending. According to Jadhav, this excitement lies not only in his outfit, but also the nature of prom.
“I'm pretty excited, not only for my outfit, but it's also my first time [going] to [an] event really far away [and] late at night,” Jadhav said. “I think it'd be fun. And hopefully [my outfit is] not the same copy and paste outfit that everybody else is wearing.”
